Wexford Farmers Co-op 60 x 30 Handball championships.
The Wexford Farmers Co-op 60 x 30 championships are reaching the knock out stages with some very important games being played across various grades over the past two weeks. Barry Goff the defending champion from Castlebridge is through to the semi finals with an unblemished record as he powered his way through his group. In the past two weeks he defeated Cormac Smyth his club mate 21-14, 21-6 , while he rounded off his group campaign with a very comfortable 21-4, 21-5 win over Mylie Connors from Barntown.
Jason Murphy has been a very busy handballer over the past few weeks as he played three times in the senior championships and recored two wins and one defeat. He defeated Cory Murphy from Castlebridge 21-12, 21-13 and also beat Peter McGrath from Coolgraney on a 21-4, 21-20 score line. Jason tasted defeat however as he went down to his Castlebridge club mate on a 21-17, 13-21, 21-11 score line.
Tommy Hynes return to form is growing momentum as he powered past Cory Murphy from Castlebridge on a 21-2, 21-8 score line. Gavin Buggy secured his semi final spot with a three set game where he came out a 21-19, 18-21, 21-17 winner over a rapidly improving David Kenny . Eugene Kelly secured his semi final spot with another fine win as he was too good for his Castlebridge clubmate Cory Murphy with a 21-9, 21-7 win.
The opening two rounds of the Senior doubles have also taken place with Mikie Berry and Miley Cash from Barntown went down to the Smyth borthers from Castlebridge , as Cormac and Diarmuid won 21-14, 16-21, 21-15 . Miley Connors and Jim Berry did get a win for Barntown as they delivered the goods against Cory and Jason Murphy in another fantastic three game match as the Barntown men won 21-16, 20-21, 21-17.
Malachy Whelan and John Roche advanced to the semi finals of the intermediate doubles with a 21-2, 21-10 win over Ballymitty duo Jimmy Moran and David Cleary , joining them in th enext round is Matthew Hynes and Paddy Haughton from St Marys as they delivered a 21-20, 21-11 win over Templeudigan duo Tony Breen and Michael O’Neill.
The quarter finals of the intermeidate singles were played out over the past week . Malachy Whelan (Castlebridge) advanced as he came from a set down to see off Phil Coleman from Ballymitty on a 18-21, 21-12, 21-7 score line. JR Finn Ballymitty secured his route to the last four with a 21-15, 21-11 win over Peter McGrath from Coolgraney. Shane Rossiter was the second Ballymitty man to make the semi finals with a 21-15, 21-11 win over Templeudigan’s Tony Breen.David Kenny won the final spot in the semi finals with a 21-8, 9-21, 21-20 win over Darren O’Toole from Coolgraney.

Damien Kelly Coolgraney beat Frank Maddock St Martins 18-21, 21-16, 21-13.
John Roche Castlebridge beat Jim Connors Barntown 21-9, 21-7.
Michael Busher Bridgetown beat Diarmuid Smyth Castlebridge 21-16, 21-13.
