Monageer Boolavogue 6-10 Ratoath 0-3.
Monageer/ Boolavogue U16 hurling team comprehensively won the U16
Leinster League with a great performance over Rathoath of Westmeath in
O’Moore park Portlaosie.
Despite the final scoreline been comprehensively in favour of Monageer/ Boolavogue it wasn’t until two second half goals were scored by monageer Boolavogue that some distance came in the sides. Captain Camen O’Brien opened the scoring with a well
taken free followed by another Peter Breen point from play. Cian Allen
latched onto a long delivery and from full forward scored his sides
first goal. Deirmuid Fenlon added two more minors the second a
brilliant from a very narrow angle. Joe Fitzgerald added another goal
to leave the half time scoreline 2-6 to 0-3. Rathoath for their part
were well and truly up for the game and the exchanges were full blooded
through out. However in particular they found it very difficult to
break the centre diamond of Monageer Boolavogue of James Walshe, Sean
Roche, Ian Hawkins and Camen O’Brien. All through the field Monageer
Boolavogues first touch was swifter and more direct. Two early second
half goals from Cathal Walsh and Deirmuid Fenlon who had to retire
shortly after with a hand injury really ended the game as a contest.
While Rathoath tried valiantly they could not break down the dogged
defence led by Robbie Donnelly from full back. Sean Roche added another
goal and two points while Joe Fitzgerald out paced his full back to
neatly flick home his second goal. All in all a good day for Monageer
Boolavogue winning on a scoreline of 6-10 to 0-3.
