ALLEY CHAT with Padhraic Roberts

Match Report

Paddy and Paul progress…..

Paddy Haughton /Paul Lambert (Wexford) beat Ger McGrath/ C.J.Delaney (Kilkenny) in the Junior Doubles Leinster Championship on a score line of 21-4 & 21-10. The Wexford pair made a blistering start in the first game which saw Paddy Haughton displaying excellent agility in scraping balls off the floor and returning them to the rear of the alley. Through the match Ger McGrath played the lion’s share of ball for Kilkenny but the combination of skill and accuracy from both Wexford players proved far too great for their Kilkenny opponents. Paul Lambert of Wexford continuously forced the Kilkenny pair to the rear of the alley with some good overhand shots, then more often than not Lambert ended the rally with good kill shots in the bottom left corner. Overall the Wexford pairing will be satisfied with their first Leinster outing together this year, but both players will know much tougher tasks lay ahead before their can capture a Leinster title.
