Swing Your Way into Buffers Alley first ever Singing and Swinging Pubs competition
Buffers Alley will be hosting a first-ever Singing and Swinging Pubs competition which gets on the way in February. This entertainment tour is expected to draw huge crowds where we will see first- hand the quality of expanding talent in the area with some guest artistes certain to make an entrance.
Lawless’ Pub Monamolin, Sean Óg’s Kilmuckridge, Porter’s Bar Killena, The Crosses Bar Kilmuckridge and Hammel’s Bar Kilmuckridge will be holding nights with a number of singers/entertainers competing for a place in the grand finale to be held in Buffers Alley.
Anyone interested or know of anyone who might like to perform, please contact Colm Óg Doran via email [email protected] or on 086-3308080. Also, the staff at all the pubs will be delighted to assist you. Each pub will have their own selection of regular singers but anyone that would like to participate from outside the area will definitely be more than welcome.
It is planned that each pub will have eight to ten singers/entertainers on the night with each performer getting to sing two songs or perform two acts. At the end of the performances a vote will be held to see who goes through to the final with two for each pub advancing to the big showdown to be held in the Buffers Alley complex. Everyone that pays in on the night (€5) gets a ticket to vote with extra votes available to purchase for €2. Simply, the two performers with the most votes go through to the final. Entertainers can do solo acts or take part in groups and if some singers would prefer a music accompaniment, this will be arranged.
The events will be held on Saturday nights with the first being held in Tom Lawlesses on Saturday 7th , next off then is Seán Ógs (Kilmuckridge) on the weekend of 14th January, Porters (Killena) on 21st February, Crosses (Kilmuckridge) on 28th February, then Joe & Bridie Hammels on the first weekend in March.
It is hoped that each venue will be packed to the rafters and an early arrival is advised to get a good spot. Audience participation is a must and these are events are not to be missed! Support Buffers Alley and the local business people.
