This weekend sees the culmination of the Wexford Ladies Gaelic Football championships with the finals taking place over two days this weekend in Taghmon GAA club.
On Saturday the Shield finals will take place beginning at 3pm when HWH Bunclody will meet Ballyhogue in the Junior A Shield final, at 4.30 St Brigid’s Blackwater will play Gusserane in the Junior B Shield final while at 6pm the Senior Shield final features Clonee against St Anne’s.
On Sunday the junior, intermediate and senior finals will also take place in Taghmon GAA club.
At 1.30pm Shelmalier’s second team will take on last year’s Junior B champions Castletown in the junior final.
The intermediate final throws in at 3pm where it’s a clash of the Saints, as St James take on St Martins. St James advanced to the final thanks to a three point win over Gusserane in Gusserane last week, meanwhile St Martin’s needed a replay last night to see off Clonard/Volunteers, and after two cracking games the Piercestown outfit have the momentum behind them for Sundays final.
This year’s senior final sees a new side breaking the mould in Kilmore up against the experienced champions Shelmalier. Kilmore have breathed new life into the championship and have beaten Shelmalier in the group stages but Sunday is a different proposition and it promises to be a cracking game at 4.30pm in Taghmon.
