Wexford GAA extends deepest sympathies to the family of Mrs Bridget O’Dwyer of Newbawn who passed away on Saturday evening.
Bridget won all Ireland senior Camogie medals with Wexford in 1968 and 1969 and a Leinster medal in 1972. She played with St Patrick’s Aclare a club formed in Horeswood parish. She also won Queen of the plough in 1968.
Her brother Robbie is current Rathgarogue/Cushinstown Club Chairman and her son Davy is Coiste Na nOg Chairman in the Club.
Bridget’s son Paud was on duty on Sunday in Croke Park as he refereed the All Ireland minor hurling final. At the end of the game the stadium announcer informed the supporters of Paud’s mother passing which was met with a sincere round of applause from all in the ground.
Paud had represented Wexford at underage before moving to Carlow when he now resides.
Mrs. O’Dwyer’s funeral will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, in Cushinstown at 12pm, followed by her burial in St Stephen’s Cemetery, New Ross.
