Official Letter of Senior Football Management resignation

The Following is a Resignation Letter from Wexford GAA Senior Football Manager  Seamus McEnaney which was forwarded to all clubs following the management resignation last Wednesday

“After careful consideration, my Management team and I are stepping down from Wexford Senior Football with immediate effect. The travel to and from Wexford being unsustainable is the primary reason for stepping down.

I would like to thank the Wexford County Board, in particular Margaret Doyle and Derek Kent, who have been professional, transparent and have provided this group with everything that was required throughout the year.  Where some management teams encounter issues and road blocks with certain County Boards, the Wexford County Board have been the complete opposite, and have been an absolute pleasure and joy to work with throughout the year.

The Support from the backroom team has been tremendous and I would like to thank them all unreservedly. David Murphy my selector has been fantastic to work with throughout this season, he has Wexford football running through his veins coupled with is in-depth knowledge is invaluable. My trainer Martin McElkennon has shown outstanding commitment and was a driving force on the training field. Gerry Nolan our physio showed great dedication throughout 2017 and ensured that injuries were not an issue for Wexford football this past season.

Our kit men David Murphy Snr & Lee Devereux, added so much to this group and have been a pleasure to work with.

I would like to thank everyone that contributed to the Wexford Football set up and made this a most enjoyable journey. The Wexford Football supporters also deserve a word of thanks, at times though small in numbers, showed great loyalty to this team in 2017.

A word of thanks to our main sponsor Gain, Trinity Motors who provided a car, Gethings Garage who supplied a kit van, Club Wexford and all other sponsors.

Lastly, I would like to thank the fantastic group of players that showed huge commitment, a positive attitude and displayed tremendous loyalty and respect, which makes this decision to step down a difficult one. I am delighted that this group achieved their primary goal in 2017, which was promotion to Division 3 of the National Football League. It is without doubt that between Management, County Board and Players I have made friends for life. With that, I would like to wish the Wexford Players, the Wexford County Board, and my Successor the very best of luck in 2018.
