The recent trip to New York City was a success both in terms of raising funds for Wexford GAA and building relationships with the wider Wexford GAA community on the east coast of America. The traveling party for the four-day visit was Lee Chin, Davy Fitzgerald, Adrian Fenlon, Tom Dempsey, Micheál Mahon, Anthony Neville, Sean Doyle, the Cathaoirleach and the Leas-Chathaoirleach. Wexford GAA did not incur any travel or accommodation costs as all those who travelled paid for themselves or were sponsored so every dollar raised will go to Wexford GAA.
Two successful fundraising nights, with Q&A sessions, were held in Jack Doyle’s pub and in Rory Dolan’s pub and excellent coaching sessions were held in Rocklands GAA and in Shannon Gaels GAA. A productive briefing session on development plans for increasing participation in our games, for focusing on youth was held in the PWC offices in Manhattan. Overall, positive relationships were built with the New York GAA and business communities and it is hoped that the visit can become a recurring event on the calendar.
