Wexford had already secured a Quarter Final spot before throw in in Nowlan Park on Sunday, but the result means we now have a mouth-watering clash with All Ireland Champions Galway this Sunday in Innovate Wexford Park.
In a tough physical game TJ Reid registered twelve points for Kilkenny while wing back Paudie Foley and Rory O’Connor were Wexford’s joint top scorers with 0-6 each. Kilkenny carried a five-point advantage going into the break, 0-14 to 0-9, Along with Paudie Foley and Rory O’Connor, Cathal Dunbar and Kevin Foley all raising the white flags for Wexford
Paudie’s final point had Wexford back within two points after the break, 0-15 to 0-13 and with Diarmuid O’Keeffe and Conor McDonald also on target. It was still a two-point game going into injury time, but Kilkenny’s Full forward Walter Walsh had the final say of the outcome with the last point of the game putting them 3 in front on the final whistle 0-22 to 0-19
