Wexford GAA is proud to continue the McCauley Wellness Programme, with a fortnight of online events and interactive activities starting this coming Monday, 18th May and culminating in a countywide #Walk4Wexford on Sunday 31st of May. The programme, which is supported by McCauley Health and Beauty Pharmacy, will have online events, interactive activities, educational webinars, skills challenges and further content for all ages aiming to promote mental health and personal wellbeing during this challenging time.
As part of the programme, Wexford inter-county players past and present have volunteered to call cocooning members of the community. There are also three live online Reeling in the Years Panel discussions featuring members of the ’96 Hurling Panel, ’08 Football Panel and the three-in-a-row Camogie champions (2010-12). Interviews featuring some of the more prominent GAA characters within the county will also be available.
Further events include a weekly online family table quiz, club activity challenges, coaching webinars, activities for primary school children, webinars for Post Primary students and skills challenges set by Davy Fitzgerald and Lee Chin, while there will also be a couch to 5km and traffic light physical activity challenges for all ages.
On the final day of the programme, Sunday 31st May, all Wexford supporters all over the world are encouraged to wear their county colours while walking in their local area with members of their household to promote Health and Wellbeing in their local communities.
Announcing the Programme, Derek Kent, Chairman of Wexford GAA said: “Wexford GAA is proud to continue our Wellness Programme this year in an online format. It is important in these challenging times to promote mental health and wellbeing in our communities and to also provide alternative entertainment in the absence of our games. We feel the programme has something for all Wexford gaels of all ages in the many initiatives taking place over the next fortnight.”
Also commenting, McCauley Pharmacy CEO Tony McEntee said: “As a leading primary healthcare provider McCauley Pharmacy is proud to continue it’s support for the Wexford GAA Wellness Programme, which it would be fair to say is the most innovative and inclusive Wellness Programme being run anywhere in the country. Micheál and the Wellness team at Wexford GAA must be congratulated on their ongoing commitment to community Wellbeing in these difficult times.”
Wexford Wellness week will run from May 18th – May 31st. (Full programme below)
